Delete Your Thermal Account

Delete it yourself

This is the fastest way, and it works whether you signed up on the web or on your phone.

• In the Thermal app (iOS or Android): open Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account.
• On the web: sign in and go to Settings → Delete account.

Either way you confirm by typing the email address on the account, so you always know which account you are closing.

If you cannot sign in

Email us from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. Once we confirm the request came from that address, we process the deletion for you and reply when it is done.

What deletion removes

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once you confirm, your account and data are removed within 30 days, and it covers:

• Your financial data: accounts, transactions, budgets, holdings and investment activity, net worth history, recurring items, properties and manual assets, retirement and Roth conversion plans, insights, categories and rules, and your search history.
• Receipts: scanned receipts, their line items, and the images you uploaded.
• Bank connections: every connection is removed and access is revoked at the provider, so Plaid, MX, Akoya, and SnapTrade stop being able to retrieve data on your behalf.
• Your subscription: an active subscription is canceled and your billing profile with our payment processor is closed. No further charges.
• Your login: the account itself, its sign-in credentials and sessions, and any data export file we were holding for you.

If you are the only person in your household, the household is removed with your account.

What we keep, and why

We keep security audit records of actions taken on the account, and we strip their personal details so what remains cannot be tied back to you. They are anonymized rather than erased because we need a record that the events happened. Billing records are also kept where tax and accounting law requires it. Everything else described above is deleted.

Before you delete

• Export first if you want a copy: Settings → Export Your Data downloads everything as a JSON file. Once deletion runs we cannot recover any of it.
• Shared households: if you own a household with other members, remove them first. If you are a member of someone else's household, leave it first. Thermal will tell you if either applies.
